A young activist turns the system's own record against it — and asks whether any of us are really free.

Logline · medium

When the institutions meant to protect him became the thing he had to survive, Joshua Arthur started filming. Am I Really Free? is the first-person record that came back — freedom interrogated from inside the system.

Logline · long

Across four years and four countries, filmmaker Joshua Arthur built an archive out of the paper trail a system leaves on a life. Am I Really Free? is the documentary that reads it back — a first-person interrogation of what freedom means when the systems built to protect you become the thing you survive. Featuring activist Kwajo Tweneboa. Releasing 1 October 2026.

Official Biography

JJDREAMSS is the operating identity of Joshua Immanuel Nyamekye Arthur — activist, filmmaker, five-language entrepreneur and digital infrastructure architect. Operating across Oslo, London and Amsterdam, he sits at the intersection of culture, faith and cinematic documentation. Turning what institutions write down into a living archive. A recognised community voice whose grassroots work, boardroom roles and social media presence have been amplified well beyond his own postcodes.

He has moved from leading church youth congregations and Nike's Black Community Commitment committee to viral UK blogs and Nordic creative circles without actively chasing clout. Despite operating largely outside legacy media spotlights, the work has travelled — and the pattern has unravelled. A Dutch-British-Norwegian-Ghanaian inheritance, built into instruments anyone can pick up and read for themselves, and a documentary that connects the dots. He intends to write straight into the future, guided by a philanthropic philosophy that dreams and visions can be turned into a lucid reality.
